So if you’re on a budget, then you shouldn’t look any further than the Civic but if you have some extra cash to spend, then perhaps you might want to consider the Mazda 3 sedan.9 The Honda Civic has been around, and successful, for nearly half a century. Yes, the Mazda 3 has better power and performance figures but it is also a bit pricier. ![]() ![]() The ride quality is superb and offers a great blend of comfort and an enthralling driving experience. It has exquisite driving dynamics, has a peppy engine and a slick gearbox, and sips very little gas. The 2019 Honda Civic has us impressed on all the fronts. Elantra on the other hand also comes equipped with a slightly larger fuel tank which puts its driving range well over 500 miles on the highway. Mazda 3 as expected is the least efficient in the lot. The Civic and the Elantra have the same combined EPA fuel economy figures and both the cars have the best figures in the competition. As standard, you get a 12.4-gallon fuel tank which puts its driving range well over 450 miles on the highway. It gets an EPA rating of 33 mpg combined which is impressive. In the city, Honda claims that the Civic can go for 30 miles while sipping a gallon of gas while on the highway, the Civic can haul for about 38 miles. The 2019 Civic delivers great fuel economy figures. Honda has managed to strike a perfect balance between athletic driving dynamics and supple ride quality. Body control is contained well and you never really feel out of control. The ride quality is perfectly balanced and the suspension unit soaks up all bumps. Nonetheless, it does a good job in slowing it down and bringing it to halt from 60 mph at a distance of 113 feet.Īnd while the Civic feels great behind the wheel, it also is a great car to ride in even when you are not behind the wheel. The brake pedal doesn’t offer the kind you would like, which somehow dents your confidence while driving. These figures are quite good for a vehicle in this segment. The 2019 Honda Civic does a 0-60 mph run in about 8 seconds and posts a respectable 16.2 seconds while doing a quarter-mile run. ![]() But even if you did so, it won’t disappoint you. 2019 Honda Civic AccelerationĢ019 Civic sedan isn’t quite the car that you’d take on the racetrack and test for acceleration times. Hyundai Elantra on the other hand is the cheapest vehicle in the lot and it has the best power to price ratio in the competition. It comes equipped with a larger 2.5 liter, 4 pot unit however it is more expensive than the rest. Mazda 3 boasts the highest power and torque numbers in the competition. Honda has done a great job in crafting the powertrain and even if it might not have the best figures, it is one the best in terms of engagement and refinement. The optional manual gearbox is also pretty slick- it has short throws, shifts nice and clean. The CVT compliments the engine well and ensures linear power delivery at all times. It instantly reacts to throttle inputs and is free-revving. The Civic’s power unit might not have very strong power figures but it is a peppy unit.
